British and Italian tourists are being warned about possible trouble in Valletta today and tomorrow, related to the arraignment of former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and others following the conclusion of the magisterial inquiry into the hospitals deal.

On its website, the UK government has warned about “possible demonstrations near the Courts of Justice in Republic Street in Valletta on 28 and 29 May.”.

“Demonstrations in Malta are rare and generally peaceful. In the event of a demonstration, visitors should take sensible precautions and avoid crowds,” the website says.

The Italian Foreign Ministry, for its part, also tells Italian tourists about the demonstrations expected in Valletta today and tomorrow.

It urged Italian nationals to take precaution and follow the advice of the Maltese police.
