66 migrants found to be living in Malta irregularly

The police said Friday inspections linked to irregular migration led to the arrest of 66 migrants who were found to be living in Malta irregularly.

The inspections took place in Gwardamanġa, Santa Venera, il-Ħamrun and Ħ’Attard where 21 suspects were apprehended, as well as Marsa and Ħal Qormi where another 23 were caught.

Following a number of days of surveillance, 22 suspects were arrested during the night in Marsa, the police said Friday.

The apprehended migrants were from Syria as well as a number of African countries.

The suspects will be held at the Detention Center and the process of their repatriation is ongoing.
