Floriana registered another win in their quest for League glory when in their match against arch rivals and neighbours Valletta they won by a 2-0 scoreline.

It was a match controlled by the Greens who held the upper hand all throughout scoring a goal in each half.

As for Valletta another defeat which means that they are now in dire straits and facing an uphill struggle in order to save their Premier League status.

Floriana went into this match holding onto the first place and also having made it to the last four of the Izibet FA Trophy. So this looks in being a dream season for the Greens.

Not the same can be said of Valletta who are witnessing one of the worst seasons in their history and are in serious danger of relegation.

In the first round match between these two sides it was the Greens who emerged winners by a solitary goal scored in stoppage time.

Floriana were the first team to venture forward and after shouts for a penalty on Nogureira were turned down, in the 7th minute a Zammit Lonardelli cross shot went wide.

The Greens increased their pressure midway through the first half and on 25 minutes a close range shot by Vella was blocked by Guarnone. And two minutes later Floriana went near once again when a Reid diagonal shot was cleared off the line and into a corner by Bolanos.

And it was in the 34th minute that Floriana took the lead. A long ball found Kemar Reid who twisted and turned round Silas and Ruiz before slotting the ball into the corner of the net.

Four minutes later a long range shot by Furtado sailed just over the bar.

The match failed to regain momentum on resumption and it was only on 58 minutes that Floriana threatened once again. And they were rather unlucky when consecutive shots by Nogureira, Garzia and Garcia from inside the area were blocked by the Valletta rearguard.

Play was restriced for long stretches in the midfield sector with neither team being of a threat. Floriana controlling their slim lead with Valletta failing to mount a proper reaction.

But Floriana sealed the issue eight minutes from the end when from a swift counter attack it was Garcia who found substitute Jake Grech and the latter after moving forward fired a fierce shot past a helpless Guarnone.
