The Daphne Caruana Galizia memorial opposite the Law Courts in Great Siege Square was trampled upon with the journalist’s photos being scattered on the ground on Tuesday morning as Joseph Muscat supporters gathered in Valletta.

Hundreds of people went to the capital city in support of the former Prime Minister who today was criminally charged following the conclusion of an inquiry into the hospitals deal which saw three public hospitals passed on to the be run by private companies.

Footage taken by The Malta Independent after the arrival of Muscat shows that some of the photos of the journalist – killed in 2017 – were strewn around the monument.

It is clear that during the commotion, unknown persons found time to scatter the photos of the dead journalist on the grass and soil.
