Censu Galea makes comeback as St Paul’s Bay mayor

Wednesday, 12 June 2024, 19:43 Last update: about 13 months ago

Veteran politician Censu Galea has been elected as St Paul’s Bay mayor, making a return to an official position seven years after losing his parliamentary seat which he had held for decades.

Galea will now occupy the seat which was previously held by his daughter Graziella – who is now herself an MP – after winning the highest number of votes in a council which was won by the Nationalist Party.

This council had previously had a Labour majority, and which has now flipped to the PN.

Only 28 per cent of St Paul’s Bay residents, most of them foreigners, voted in last Saturday’s election.

Galea had served as minister under different Nationalist administrations.

He is now back as mayor of St Paul’s Bay.
