Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri announced that the sixth edition of the Gozo Food Festival will take place on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th July, in Xewkija Square.
This food festival will consist of two nights of culinary celebrations from across the world, allowing attendees to sample the goodness of Asian food, the quality of Mediterranean cuisine, the best European dishes and the authenticity of Gozitan food. In fact, around 20 exhibitors will be serving the best food from various countries around the world. Thus, an excellent opportunity to celebrate the Maltese summer on the island of Gozo.
Minister Clint Camilleri stated that this is a street food festival with a focus on inclusivity as a variety of culinary items will be available in one location. “It is another event expected by many that year after year continues to attract numerous attendees, in a wonderful setting with a festive approach,” said Minister Camilleri.
“I encourage the public to join us for this year’s edition of the Gozo Food Festival which will feature a variety of foods from around the world. This festival, together with many other activities that will be organised have the support of the Ministry for Gozo and Planning because we believe that these are initiatives that offer added value to those who choose Gozo as their destination and are an integral part of our vibrant culture,” concluded Minister Camilleri.
Xewkija Mayor Simona Refalo said that the Local Council is committed in strengthening these activities while she invited the public to attend.
This year the organisers are focusing more on versatility, with over 100 different dishes from around the world being served by many participants. There will also be a special area dedicated for children, complete with appropriate food, games and attractions.
Admission to the festival is free. Malta Public Transport will be operating a shuttle service from Mġarr Ferry Terminal to Xewkija Square.
