Former Finance Minister and current Governor of the Central Bank of Malta Edward Scicluna kept his lips sealed while leaving court after a Magistrate declared that there is enough prima facie evidence for him to be indicted over the hospitals case, saying only "I already answered you," to a question
Scicluna left court at around 12:40pm, hours after the court issued its decree. He was being asked by journalists whether he will remain in his post as Central Bank governor, whether he is ruining the country's reputation, and if he is disappointed by the result that was decided by the Courts today, but Scicluna walked straight towards his vehicle to leave Valletta. He uttered that he had already answered journalists while continuing to walk away.
Despite not answering journalists earlier this morning, Fearne had told them that he will be publishing a statement of his own at a "later" time. Scicluna did not state he would do the same.
When he had attended the first sitting of the court case in May, Scicluna had said that his post is "governed by a European treaty and by the statute of the European Central Bank... They have to decide, to take a position... there are strict conditions so that there is no interference from the government, opposition or NGO regarding a resignation."
