Police Force launches Remote Reporting Unit for virtual reporting

The Police Force has launched a Remote Reporting Unit (RRU) which will provide the public a more efficient service through virtual reporting on non-urgent cases.

A police statement on Monday explained how the innovative service works, where one can communicate directly from the comfort of their own home with a police officer by filling out a simple form on the Police Force's website - https://pulizija.gov.mt/mt/aghmel-rapport/.

Those making the report virtually must provide details about what they are reporting and can choose a convenient date and time for a police officer to get back in touch, using the preferred contact method.

One can specify on a range of communication methods, including WhatsApp, Google Meet, FaceTime, Teams, or a regular phone call.

Through this service, one can report, among other things, lost items, damages, and other non-urgent reports.

The officer who takes the report will register it in the police system, and a copy of the report will be sent by email.

The Police Force reminded that in emergency cases, one should always call the number 112 or 119. The public will still have the option, if they feel more comfortable, to go and make a report physically at any police station.
