Swimmer Sasha Gatt and shooter Gianluca Chetcuti terminated their Paris experience yesterday with disappointing results.
Both were eliminated with Gatt obtaining the worst time in the heats of the 1500m freestyle, and with Chetcuti placing 29th from 30 competitors.
Sasha Gatt was in the first heat of the 1500 m freestyle finishing last in the heat and in the overall standings.
She clocked 17:00.54 which was worse than the timing obtained in the Tokyo Olympics.
Sasha Gatt has the national record with 16:38.75.
In the second day of the Trap competition, the competitors had the final two rounds of 25 clays each.
Chetcuti started the day in 28th place with 69 clays. He started brilliantly making a straight of 25 in the fourth round.
But he missed three clays in the fifth and final round, three clays which at Olympic level are an almost disaster.
Gianluca finished with a total of 116 from 125 clays, dropping another position for a final 29th position.
Malta’s Olympic team has still two athletes to make their Paris Olympic debut, with Kyle Micallef in the men’s 50m freestyle heats on Thursday, and with Beppe Grillo in the athletics 100m heats on Saturday.
