The Ministry for Health and Active Ageing has announced two new appointments.
Engineer Karl Farrugia has been appointed CEO of Primary Health Care, and Roseanne Camilleri has been appointed CEO of Mental Health Services.
"With over twenty years of experience, Karl Farrugia has held various positions in the private sector and began working with the Ministry of Health as a Biomedical Engineer in 2001. In 2007, he was appointed Director of Materials Management and Logistics at Mater Dei Hospital, and in 2011 he was appointed CEO of the Central Procurement and Supplies Unit (CPSU).

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Karl Farrugia was also appointed by the government to represent Malta in the EU Joint Procurement Strategic Action Group. In 2022, he was awarded the Medal for Service to the Republic.
"Roseanne Camilleri has been instrumental in driving significant advances in the healthcare sector in Malta. Since 2017, she has served as CEO of Primary Health Care. Since 2017 she led the Pharmacy of Your Choice (POYC) programme. She holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of Grenoble, as well as a postgraduate certification in hospital management from the University of Birmingham.
She also serves in academic roles, including as Associate Dean at the Queen Mary University of London - Malta, reflecting her dedication to healthcare education. In 2022, she received an Award for Recognition of an Innovative Initiative at the Med-Tech Summit World Awards and the National Worker of the Year Award 2021.
The Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela, congratulated Karl Farrugia and Roseanne Camilleri on their new roles.
