Sliema W 0

FC Noah 0

Sliema Wanderers gave a very good account of themselves against Armenia’s FC Noah, obtaining a prestigous and deserved scoreless draw in the Conference League.

Noah came to Malta controlling their commanding seven-goal lead obtained last week and obtained this draw without much effort.

However the positive signs came from the Sliema side who played a very diligent game avoiding to make the fatal blatant mistakes made in Armenia.

Sliema who were returning to europe after a long wait, can now look confidently to the domestic season in which they could have their say too.

The best chances were created in the first half with Sliema missing two very good chances with Gomez and Plut failing to connect in front of goal and with Magri Overend avoiding a certain goal blocking off the goal line.

Floriana were yesterday defeated 4-0 by Vitoria Guimareas of Portugal to bow out of the UEFA Conference League.

The Greens had eliminated San Marino’s Tre Penne in the first round, but frankly could do little against a superior outfit.

The Greens gave a good performance at the Centenary Stadium seven days ago, only conceeding a soft goal near the end of the match.

Yesterday however there was no contest as Vitoria’s superiority was there for all to see as the Portuguese outfit put an an end to the contest with four first half goals.

Floriana coach Darren Abdilla started with the same formation of the first leg, whilst Vitoria coach Borges introduced Ramirez and Kaio Cesar from the start, two players, especially the latter, who practically changed the game when tehy came in as substitutes seven days ago at the Centenary Stadium.

The same Kaio Cesar opened the account on eight minutes after being served by Mangas and three minutes later central defender Fernandes doubled the score when he headed homa a Thiago Silva corner.

Late in the second half Vitoria scored another two goals to put the game to bed.

The two goals scored by striker Mangas on 37 and 43 minutes after passes from Gaspar and Kaio Cesar.

In the second half Vitoria easily controlled the match to move to the third qualifying round of the competition.
