The aim of a report drawn up by Infrastructure Malta regarding the Chamber of Architects' idea for the Msida creek project was 'only to attack' the latter's proposal, the PN, through MPs Joe Giglio, Mark Anthony Sammut and Bernice Bonello, said.
Infrastructure Malta's plan for the Msida project is for a flyover to be installed. However, the Malta Chamber of Architects had come up with a different proposal, one that would redirect traffic and see a park created instead. Infrastructure Minister Chris Bonett met with he Chamber to discuss the latter's proposal. However now, the Times of Malta reported that Infrastructure Malta thinks the chamber of architects' vision for a tree-filled alternative to its Msida Creek project is "impossible" and "dangerous", according to a leaked report.
The PN said that after everything, it is clear that what appeared in the media about the report that Infrastructure Malta prepared on the Chamber's proposal shows that the aim of this report was "only" to attack the Chamber's proposal. The PN said that at this stage, the least expected is that the report be published in its entirety.
The PN said that before the government uses this report to "throw away" the new proposal, it must sit down with the Malta Chamber of Architects and experts, Infrastructure Malta, the Local Council and the Msida Community as well as all the stakeholders to discuss the way forward in the best interest of the people.
The PN said that a few months ago Bonett promised that Infrastructure Malta will make a report on the proposal of the Malta Chamber of Architects as an alternative to the Msida project and how the project can be improved for this locality to include the elements that they are proposing. It said that he also promised that the new appointment of Steve Ellul as the CEO of Infrastructure Malta will take the agency "in a new direction".
