PEN Malta has said that it is "deeply concerned" that the blogger and author Mark Camilleri "is being threatened by former government official Nevile Gafa because of his writing".

Neville Gafa, a former official within the Office of the Prime Minister, posted a statement on Facebook in which he said that he knows where Mark Camilleri is and that he is "coming to visit".

In his post, Gafa wrote that Camilleri should "prepare me a coffee because I am coming to visit you for a quiet chat".

"By the way, they have exposed where you live Ġahan. You should have never trusted. Is it possible that you made this mistake, especially when you are so afraid of where you live being exposed?" Gafa said.

It said that it is "deeply concerned" that the blogger and author "is being threatened by former government official Nevile Gafa because of his writing". PEN Malta continued that it "cannot turn a blind eye to threats directed at journalists, authors, artists, and activists". It said that it is appealing to the police to investigate the case.o.
