European Commissioner Helena Dalli said that on 31 July, a man left a threatening note outside the door of her home, saying "next time I'll be prepared with something for your children."
She said that she reported the threat to the police and passed on security camera footage, where the man is seen entering and his car is also visible.
"From that point, there was no communication with me about the case. That is why last week I asked to see where the investigation is at, and I was informed that 'there is still nothing'," she posted on Facebook.
She was reacting to a news article that appeared in the newspaper Il-Mument, which carried photos seemingly taken from CCTV footage showing the man entering through her gate and leaving a note in front of the door, carrying the story about the alleged threat.
Repubblika Honourary President Robert Aquilina posted on Facebook that if Dalli was threatened, "she also deserves our solidarity and protection from the Maltese authorities. In a democracy there should be no need for threats and intimidation It is our duty to live the values that we believe in without looking at faces. I don't agree with Helena Dalli on a thousan issues, but this does not mean that we should close our eyes to threats against her."
Dalli is in the final weeks in her post as European Commissioner.
Recently her husband claimed that senior officials in the Labour Party had worked to destroy his wife's credibility and stop her from becoming President of Malta.
