A varied programme for this year’s edition of Notte Bianca has been launched, which includes performances throughout Valletta on Saturday, 5 October, the government said Thursday.
Minister for National Heritage, Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici, together with Festivals Malta, launched the programme for this edition of Notte Bianca.
Bonnici explained that this edition of Notte Bianca will feature over 50 activities spread across Valletta and will involve around 250 local and international artists of the highest quality.
"A great effort is made to have a variety of activities appealing to all ages, adding further value to our country's culture,” he said, thanking Festivals Malta and all collaborators for their excellent work in promoting artistic heritage.
Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra said that Notte Bianca is one of the largest events in Festivals Malta's portfolio, including various activities for diverse audiences.
“We are satisfied that each year this cultural festival continues to grow, both in terms of production and organization, as well as in the quality of the work presented by our artists. We are committed to ensuring that, as Festivals Malta, we continue to work so that Notte Bianca remains as successful as it has always been,” Zahra said.
Festivals Malta CEO Frans Agius explained that this year, Notte Bianca is prioritizing several local productions, with the majority of the events presented in the program being local.
“Notte Bianca offers an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work. Many of the productions we have are original and specially created for Notte Bianca, which shows the commitment and dedication of our artists, who consistently work within the culture of our country,” Agius said.
Notte Bianca's Artistic Director Antoine Farrugia gave more details about this year's program, explaining how one can make the most of the projects.
"One of the priorities in designing the Notte Bianca program is variety. Thus, as in previous years, we are seeing a diverse program that appeals to children, youths, adults, and the elderly,” Farrugia said.
He continued that this year, Notte Bianca reintroduced routes as well, which help audiences find the projects that interest them the most and ultimately plan their night in the most efficient way.
Notte Bianca is organized by Festivals Malta with the support of the Ministry for National Heritage, Arts, and Local Government and in collaboration with 89.7 Bay, Bay Easy, and European Heritage Days.
