European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has written how much she misses slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
"Today marks seven years from Daphne Caruana Galizia's brutal assassination. The void she left is still felt - within her family and loved ones, in Malta and Gozo, and across Europe," she wrote on Facebook.
"I miss her. I miss her standards that raised the bar for all of us in politics. I miss her blog that made the crooks and the corrupt shake. I miss her wit that made a country laugh out loud," Metsola said.
"I am grateful to have also known Daphne beyond her writing. As a Maltese woman battling the odds, as a mother who was so proud of the men her boys grew into, as a daughter, wife and sister, who wanted more than the mediocrity and culture of impunity too often on display.
"I still catch myself asking what would Daphne have thought of all we have witnessed in the last years. That gives you some insight into her influence and lasting impact.
"But most of all, today I think about how we must keep Daphne's memory alive. How we will keep fighting for the truth, for justice and for accountability.
"Seven years is too long to wait for some semblance of justice, but we will not falter. Not for a day. We owe it to her, to Malta and to all of us."
