This year's edition of the 'Walk with the President' will be taking place on Sunday 17th November, the Office of the President of Malta said on Thursday.
It said that participants will be walking from the San Anton Palace to the President's Palace in Valletta's St George Square.
The President's Office said that upon arrival at St George Square, there will be a variety of activities for the whole family, including games for children as well as entertainment and music. There will also be food and drinks.
President Spiteri Debono called upon the public to attend to strengthen the Malta Community Chest Fund, which she said provides aid to those who need it. The President remarked that "suffering calls you to ease it". She thanked the Police Force and the Armed Forces of Malta, who will be assisting in the activity. She also thanked the main sponsors of the event, Enemed, with the collaboration of SportMalta under the auspice of the Ministry for Sport and the Local Councils Association.
The President's Office said that this activity is also made possible with the support of the Bank of Valletta, the Social Causes Fund, BNF Bank, Mapfre MSV Life, Visit Malta, Michele Peresso Limited, Motors Inc., Maypole, KPMG, General Soft Drinks, The Point Shopping Mall, Falcotrans, Paradise Bay Hotel, The Convenience Shop, and with the support of MZ Marketing, Magic 91.7FM, and Ponder & Pitch.
Sina Bugeja, the Chairperson of the Malta Community Chest Fund, encouraged all those who will be attending to wear the T-shirt of the occasion.
Kevin Chircop, Executive Chairman of Enemed, spoke about the importance of the support of companies for such activities together with the public's attendance so that the chest fund is able to continue supporting those who need help. He also encouraged more companies to support such initiatives.
Education and Sport Minister Clifton Grima described the activity as a celebration of collaboration, volunteering, unity, solidarity, and generosity, which he said are the greatest values of the Maltese people.
PN Spokesperson David Agius said that the sporting activity is one which unites people, and appealed for all to attend and help those who can be assisted by the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The Office of the President of Malta said that those interested in attending can make a donation of €10 in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund and will be given an occasion shirt which can be collected from all Local Councils around Malta and Gozo, the Office of the Malta Community Chest Fund in Valletta, and from Eurosport.
