The public has had enough, the Nationalist Party said in a statement.
"The Ministers of this Government continue to enrich themselves," the party said, adding that it will be the people themselves who "will stop them from further fraud."
During a PN press conference held in front of the Ministry for Tourism and Public Cleanliness, Shadow Ministers Graham Bencini and Graziella Galea stated that the latest scandal involving Ministers Clayton Bartolo and Clint Camilleri is the final straw.
The PN is appealing to everyone who is "tired of being robbed by Ministers who are supposed to be working for the people to be present in front of Parliament on Monday to voice their anger and put an end to this Government's corrupt practices. Words alone will not bring about change. The people need to show their outrage by being present at this protest."
The Ministers will not silence the people or placate them with a mere apology, the PN representtives said. "The fact that two Ministers conspired to give €70,000 to the wife of one of them for doing absolutely nothing, using public funds, is something that the Maltese workforce will not tolerate."
"The public will not remain silent until Clayton Bartolo and Clint Camilleri resign and return what they stole from the Maltese and Gozitans. If Robert Abela does not ensure this happens, he will be complicit. He will be guilty of fraud himself and guilty of covering up the fraud committed by his colleagues."
The case of Clint Camilleri and Clayton Bartolo is not the first instance of fraud by Ministers, they said. "Members of Parliament from the same Labour Party have confirmed that everyone is out to enrich themselves. Every day, Robert Abela's Government erodes public trust in its members and officials, yet it continues to bury its head in the sand, pretending that everything is fine and carrying on with business as usual. Perhaps, because this has become the norm - Ministers commit fraud, and the Prime Minister covers for them."
"What Robert Abela fails to understand, despite the warning given to him by the public last June, is that this fraudulent Government has alienated many, even those who once trusted it," the PN said.
"Malta's youth do not want a government that works against them but one that works for them. They want a government that provides opportunities, not one that seizes every opportunity to steal from them. They want a government that understands and lives their realities and works to ensure they can live in a normal country where it's what you know, not who you know, that counts."
Monday's protest will be the cry of the worker who goes to work daily, angered that Ministers enrich themselves at their expense, the party said. "It will be the cry of the youth who want to live in a fair country that offers opportunities for all, not just the Minister's friends. It will be the cry of the elderly who want to live their later years in a country where Ministers work to improve their lives, not fill their own pockets."
The PN is appealing to everyone who wants the change Malta so desperately needs to gather in front of Parliament at 6pm on Monday to make their voices heard and be part of the movement for a better Malta.
