The Nationalist Party next week will host one of the highest organs of the European People's Party (EPP), the Political Assembly, here in Malta.
During this meeting, which will be setting the political direction for the EPP, the largest political party in Europe, discussions will focus on quality of life and how the quality of life for Europeans can improve while continuing to grow the economy. The situation in the Mediterranean, which is our home, will also be discussed, with participation from leaders from both Europe and North Africa.
The fact that the EPP chose our country for the PN to host this Political Assembly is proof that the EPP, like the majority of the Maltese people, believes that Malta's future can be better than its past and that the change we need can only come through the PN, the party said.
This was the message delivered during a press conference addressed by the Partit Nazzjonalista General Secretary Michael Piccinino and PN International Secretary Beppe Galea, a few days before top EPP officials will be in Malta to participate in this Assembly.
The Assembly will take place next Thursday and Friday, 21 and 22 November, at the PN Headquarters under the patronage of the Leader of the Party Bernard Grech, who will be among the European leaders opening the Assembly, alongside EPP President Manfred Weber.
The Assembly will also include participation from the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, EPP Vice Presidents, several European Commission Vice Presidents, and European Commissioners, along with other leaders.
The PN's true colours: insensitive and partisan - PL says
IN a statement, the Labour Party said the PN called this press conference a few hours after its MEPs rejecting a request for a debate at the European Parliament, following Israel's decision to ban the United Nations relief agency UNRA from within its territory, putting millions of Palestinian lives in jeopardy.
They gave the logistical details of an upcoming EPP seminar but failed to apologise for the deeply insensitive decision by their MEPs David Casa and Peter Agius, with Bernard Grech's approval, to shoot down the request for a debate on a matter of life and death for millions of Palestinian children, women and men, the PL said.
It was a 'let-them-eat-cake' (completely out of touch with the needs of millions of Palestinians) attitude by the Nationalist Party and its representatives in Brussels, the PL added.
David Casa and Peter Agius's utter disregard and lack of empathy towards families who are experiencing genocide is shocking, as is Michael Piccinino's defence, earlier on today, of their inexcusable behaviour. It shows the PN's true colours: insensitive, the PL said.
In other words, Casa and Agius put partisan politics before a humanitarian issue. They are incapable of putting people first. It's all about partisan politics. That is deeply insensitive, the PL said.
