The total number of vehicles registered in Malta has increased by 125,653 since 2012, according to statistics tabled by Transport Minister Chris Bonett in parliament on Monday.
The statistics are up until the second quarter of 2024
Minister Bonett was replying to a question posed by Nationalist Party MP Graziella Attard Previ, who asked the Minister for information regarding how many vehicles of each category were registered from 2012 to the present day.
Providing the statistics divided year-by-year, the information shows that in 2012 there were 314,510 total registered vehicles in Malta, with that number in the second quarter of 2024 rising to a total of 440,163.
The total number of registered vehicles in 2023 was 438,567, with that number being 424,904 in the year 2022.
