After 87 months from the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, our country remains without truth and justice and with a Prime Minister who has broken his own promise to implement the recommendations of the Public Inquiry, the Nationalist Party said Thursday.
It is scandalous that, "in the most irresponsible manner", Robert Abela has left the Public Inquiry report into the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia gathering dust on a shelf for over three years and five months, without implementing a single recommendation made by the three Judges involved in the inquiry.
Worse still, Robert Abela continues to do everything possible to erase the memory of Daphne Caruana Galizia and the scandals she uncovered, including those related to 17 Black, Egrant, the Panama Papers, Vitals and Steward, Pilatus Bank, Electrogas, and many others, the PN said.
The PN said that Robert Abela's actions are part of the plan of the diabolical pact he engaged in, that includes:
1. Granting immunity to corrupt politicians and their accomplices
2. Reducing the rights of Maltese and Gozitan citizens to request the initiation of magisterial inquiries
3. Obstructing and interfering with Judges and Magistrates in their work
4. Exercising absolute and abusive control over national broadcasting
5. Capturing the Office of the Attorney General and appointing an incompetent Attorney General
6. Installing a Police Commissioner who acts as a puppet of Castille
7. Continuous and spiteful attacks on the Partit Nazzjonalista, activists, and civil society
8. Treating journalists as adversaries and failing to provide them with adequate protection
9. Disregarding, interfering with, and abusing the country's key institutions
10. Buying votes through various fraud and theft rackets within government departments, agencies, and authorities.
Today, everyone knows that our country is governed by an administration riddled with corruption, one that has learnt absolutely nothing from the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia. Despite a change in Prime Minister, our country remains plagued by the same abuses of power, corruption, and scandals that have become the order of the day, the PN said.
The PN urged all well-meaning Maltese and Gozitans to work collectively to ensure that the full truth comes to light and that justice is served for the family of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
The statement was signed by Karol Aquilina, Shadow Minister for Justice, and Claudette Buttigieg, Shadow Minister for Public Administration, Public Broadcasting, and the Fight Against Diabetes
