The Nationalist Party's vision for the future of the country is based on the same model as established companies in Malta, which have understood that success is built by striving for high-quality jobs that offer fair pay, and by creating more opportunities for training and specialised, well-paid employment, the party said.

During a visit to STMicroelectronics in Ħal Kirkop, Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista Bernard Grech said that the company's success is rooted in its ability to create quality jobs, employing thousands of professionals over the years.

"STMicroelectronics - a multinational company manufacturing semiconductors - has provided numerous opportunities for engineers and other technical staff to develop their knowledge and professionalism. In turn, these employees have delivered invaluable service to the company. This formula has been highly successful, and it is why STMicroelectronics enjoys an excellent reputation in Malta."

Bernard Grech noted that this company is a key and essential operator in Malta, as it produces high value-added goods." This, in turn, leads to the creation of quality jobs. It is therefore highly satisfying to see the company continuing to expand its operations, including new facilities expected to be completed in the coming years."

"With around 1,700 employees and revenue of approximately one billion US dollars in 2023, STMicroelectronics is the largest private sector employer in Malta. It produces microchips for multinational clients across various fields of innovative technology, including the automotive sector and consumer electronics, such as mobile devices."

The PN, both in Opposition and especially in Government, will continue to fully support companies like STMicroelectronics, the party said. "It looks forward to ensuring that STMicroelectronics and other high-standard companies continue to grow and provide opportunities for workers who aspire to build stable careers. A Nationalist Government aims to introduce more incentives to position Malta as a leader in innovation, further enhancing the invaluable contribution of companies like STMicroelectronics to Malta's economy."

Bernard Grech said that the PN intends to remain updated on the ever-changing challenges Malta faces in attracting new investments. "It is also committed to ensuring that companies like STMicroelectronics, which have invested millions over the years, remain fully committed to operating in Malta. A new Nationalist Government will strengthen the collaboration STMicroelectronics has with MCAST, the University of Malta and the Chamber of Engineers, ensuring this critical economic sector has trained workers, including engineers, to meet the demands of such companies."

During the visit to STMicroelectronics, Bernard Grech not only met the company's management in Malta and toured the Control Room but also had the opportunity to meet several employees working in different sections of the factory.

Accompanying Bernard Grech during his visit were Shadow Minister for Energy, Research, and Innovation Ryan Callus; Shadow Minister for the Economy and Enterprise Jerome Caruana Cilia; and Shadow Minister for Labour and the Creation of New Economic Sectors Ivan J. Bartolo.
