During a visit to the Da Vinci private hospital, Prime Minister Robert Abela observed initiatives being undertaken in the health sector "that are producing positive outcomes as a result of partnerships between the Government and the private sector."
The Prime Minister noted that this hospital played was part of a contingency plan that is aiding in mitigating the impact of industrial actions, "which the Government firmly believes patients should not suffer for. In fact, individuals who urgently wanted services of a doctor at the Birkirkara Health Centre were given service at this private hospital."
Accompanied by the Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela, the Prime Minister inspected the investments made in modern medical equipment, including a new MRI scanner, partially funded through a joint effort between European funds and public funds allocated by the Government. These European funds are part of the largest financial package Malta has ever secured, covering the period from 2021 to 2027, the government said.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction "that the private sector is also benefiting from this historic allocation of European funds for Malta, which is ultimately benefiting the public. The country is utilizing these funds under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) program for 2021-2027, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the European economy by supporting innovation and small to medium-sized enterprises."
During his visit to the Radiology Department of Da Vinci Hospital, the Prime Minister observed the MRI equipment that is improving the hospital's operational efficiency. He also welcomed the private investment being made by the hospital to expand its emergency department, which is currently receiving patients from Mater Dei Hospital to alleviate the burden on Mater Dei's Emergency Department. "This effort reflects the private sector's commitment to contributing to a more efficient and sustainable healthcare system in the country."
In discussions with the hospital administration, the Prime Minister emphasized the Government's commitment to offering more funding opportunities to businesses and enterprises that contribute to economic growth and public health.
During his visit, the Prime Minister praised "the extraordinary work of all the professionals at Da Vinci Hospital, who are providing excellent service to patients and improving the quality of life for the Maltese and Gozitans."
