President Myriam Spiteri Debono on Friday had a private audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican.
During the meeting, the Pontiff spoke about his memories of the visit to Malta in 2022 and his having two Gozitan students studying with him in Buenos Aires before he became a Jesuit priest.
Accompanying the president was Foreign Minister Ian Borg and Malta's Ambassador to the Holy See Frank Zammit.
The president presented the Pope with medical apparatus to be used in a special clinic that offers free medical services to people in need.
