The first state childcare centre in Gozo has been opened in the locality of Victoria, with the centre being operated by the Foundation for Educational Services, the Ministries for Gozo and Education said in a statement on Monday.
The Ministries stated that the new childcare centre, which is named ‘Djamant’, is located in the Victoria Educational Complex. They continued that this unique complex includes a primary school, middle school, secondary school, and sixth form, as well as facilities for children’s sports and recreation.
Education Minister Clifton Grima said that the Foundation for Educational Services is an integral part of the country’s education system as it contributes to a holistic education for children and also functions as invaluable support for families to find a balance between work and family.
Grima continued that the Education Ministry is committed to ensuring that the demands of parents and families continue to be met. He commented that the Foundation for Educational Services always listens to such requests, and continued that the opening of new centres ensures that working parents have a more than adequate place where their children can continue their development.
The Ministries stated that the ‘Djamant’ centre has the capacity to welcome around 89 children in 3 activity areas, with 2 rooms specially reserved for babies. They added that the centre also has an outside area and is equipped with a large variety of resources to help children in their educational path.
Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri commented that the joint work between ministries, institutions, and departments has resulted in Gozo having all the facilities in services that are available in Malta.
Camilleri said that the first state childcare centre in Gozo is “one of the most beautiful childcare centres in our islands”. He remarked that he has no doubt that those working at the centre will provide an excellent service for the good of the children.
