PN calls for implementation of measures to tackle rising cost of living

In recent days there has been a substantial increase in the prices of various essential products and services, the Nationalist Party said in a statement.

"In light of this, the PN reiterates its appeal to the Government to introduce a number of solutions that it has long been proposing. These include: Ensuring that the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) is not taxed, allowing workers to retain more of their earnings; Providing tax credits to employers so that they are not forced to raise prices as a result of COLA; Establishing a National Fund to support industries that import or export goods, helping to offset costs contributing to the rise in the cost of living; Developing a new economic model with innovative sectors aimed at creating quality jobs that offer better wages for workers.

The PN, in a statement signed by Shadow Minister for the Maritime Sector, Social Dialogue, and the Fight Against the Rising Cost of Living Ivan Castillo, urged the Government to "stop being obstinate and to implement these solutions to help Maltese and Gozitan families cope with the challenges posed by the rising cost of living."
