Festa Annimali 2025, held on Sunday at Ta' Qali, saw volunteers from the Department of Animal Welfare show off the dogs in their custody in an effort to promote adoption.

The Ministry for Agriculture said that on Sunday, Festa Annimali 2025 was successfully held in Ta' Qali in which a number of families attended with their pets for a day of celebration and awareness on animal welfare. It said that throughout the day, families had the opportunity to meet a number of voluntary organizations as well as vets and trainers to learn more about animals and the services for their welfare.

The ministry said a number of volunteers from the Department of Animal Welfare were also present with dogs that are currently kept by the department and are awaiting adoption. It said that this initiative was aimed at encouraging more people to adopt animals and give them a happier life.

The ministry said Festa Annimali 2025 continued to build on the work being done by the government to promote animal adoption and increase awareness on animal rights whilst giving families the opportunity to celebrate their special bond to their pets. On his part, Minister for Agriculture Anton Refalo said that the Festa Annimali 2025 and activities like it are important and complement a number of governmental reforms and measures implemented by the government to protect animals. He added that his ministry would continue providing support to those who care for animals at sanctuaries.

The ministry also said that the Pet Memorial Garden just opened in Ta' Qali, in front of the farmer's market, and that it offers a quiet space with benches for those who lost their pets in a green, tranquil environment.
