Education Minister Clifton Grima said that it was time for the Mellieha primary school to be demolished completely and built anew.
Speaking in Parliament during the parliamentary question session, Grima was asked by PL MP Clayton Bartolo for an update on the Mellieha primary school.
Grima said that while the government will ensure that the current scholastic year finishes before the project starts, it will also discuss and give clear timelines on the relocation of students with educators.
He said this project presents a unique opportunity to amalgamate aspects of benefit to both the educational community as well as that of Mellieha in general.
Grima said that the project includes parking intentioned for educators and the community.
He also said that the government, along with the Mellieha Local Council, has identified an alternative site so that whilst the existing school is demolished and rebuilt, students will receive their education in the same locality.
