The results of a study titled 'The Economy of Wellbeing - Bridging the Gap' were published on  Monday.

Commissioned by Member of the European Parliament Thomas Bajada, the study aimed to highlight society's concerns and identify solutions, moving beyond numbers and statistics to inspire real action, a statement issued via the Labour Party said.

During the presentation, MEP Thomas Bajada emphasised the study's bottom-up approach, ensuring that every individual has a voice in shaping the future and that all stories are heard with dignity.

From this survey it emerged that the family is the strongest institution in our country so much so that almost 94% of the participants claimed that for them the family is the most important thing in their lives, followed by work and leisure.

In addition, 95% of participants stressed that the most trusted people in their lives are their family members. Asked about what contributes to emotional well-being or lack of it, the majority of participants mentioned personal achievements, relationships, stress and financial status.

The event was also addressed by Lawrence Zammit, Managing Director of MISCO, the company responsible for conducting the study. He explained that approximately 430 individuals from diverse demographic backgrounds contributed to the research.

Justin Attard, a researcher at the University of Malta specialising in Sociological Policy, Social Class, and Community Resilience, discussed how the study examines factors contributing to satisfaction among people in Malta. He highlighted human wellbeing as a crucial element in social, economic, and cultural life, stressing the importance of quality of life - one of the key findings of the research.

Various stakeholders, representatives from organisations, and NGOs were also present, sharing their insights on the study and its results.
