The Cottonera Foundation has recently completed the restoration of 14 Via Crucis paintings at the Capuchin Church in Kalkara.

This was announced during a visit by the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, and the Chairperson of the Cottonera Foundation Joe Mizzi.

Through skilled professionals with extensive experience in the field, these paintings, whose details had faded over time, were carefully restored and returned to their original glory.

Zerafa Civelli said that this restoration was made possible through the support and financial assistance of the Cottonera Foundation.

She said that through this foundation, government is committed to supporting local councils in the area in carrying out cultural projects of this kind.

"These types of projects are important for our communities and clearly demonstrate the government's commitment to preserving Malta's cultural and religious heritage," she said.

Zerafa Civelli said that through this project, Maltese traditions are kept alive, while strengthening Christian values.

She said that the conservation of historical heritage is crucial for future generations to continue enjoying it.

Mizzi said that since the foundation's establishment, it has undertaken various projects of this kind across the Cottonera region to safeguard the area's cultural heritage.

Mizzi added that part of the foundation's strategy is to preserve cultural wealth and ensure that it is appreciated by more people.

He reiterated the foundation's commitment to doing everything possible to prevent these treasures from being lost.

The Guardian Friar of the Church Miguel Zammit expressed his gratitude to the Cottonera Foundation for its support in maintaining cultural and religious heritage alive.
