PN says it will continue to shape policies that empower Maltese women and strengthen society

The Nationalist Party said it remains committed to shaping policies that provide women with opportunities to utilise their many skills as they choose, while also supporting them in their diverse roles.

Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Bernard Grech and his wife, AnneMarie Grech, celebrated International Women's Day with a visit to Polly Muscat, a farmer who, alongside her husband Karmenu, runs a strawberry-growing business in Għemieri, on the outskirts of Rabat.

During this visit, which was also attended by Shadow Minister for Consumer Rights and Animal Welfare Janice Abela Chetcuti, Shadow Minister for Equality, Civil Liberties, and Children's Rights Graziella Attard Previ, Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Toni Bezzina, as well as officials from the PN's Women's Movement (MNPN), they had the opportunity to appreciate the dedication of Maltese women through Polly's hard work. At 65 years old, Polly continues to work the land with the same love that she raised her three children, while also helping to care for her seven grandchildren.

Born and raised in farming, Polly is a true example of diligence, skill, and resilience, the PN said.

Today, the PN said it is updating its policies to ensure that women have the best opportunities, by fostering a better balance between work and family life.

The PN said it recognises that, all too often, women continue to bear a greater share of family responsibilities than men and remain disadvantaged in terms of equal working conditions.

Through its policies, the PN aims to achieve greater gender equality while preserving the unique qualities of women.

Gender inequality is a reality that must be addressed through policies that acknowledge today's challenges, ensuring that women are afforded the dignity they deserve, regardless of whether they choose to study and pursue a career, dedicate themselves to raising their children, or do both.

While striving for equality, it is important to acknowledge that the contribution of women to society is indispensable and cannot be replaced.

On International Women's Day, the PN said it honours all women, those who have found success in life, as well as those still fighting against the tide, those seeking new opportunities, those suffering from inequalities, and those facing hardships simply because they are women.

The PN said it remains committed to listening to women, understanding the difficulties they encounter, and shaping fair policies that create a more equal future for our daughters and ensure that our country continues to thrive, thanks to the strength and contributions of Maltese women.
