Former MADC chairman and actor Alan Meadows died on Thursday, at the age of 83.

"It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our dear friend Alan Meadows," MADC wrote on its Facebook page.

"As most of you know, Alan was a selfless and loyal member of the Club whose services ran the gamut of vital roles namely that of playing Dame in Panto, to taking on the responsibilities of Chairman."

"Alan was a rock to the Club and to his family especially to his beloved wife, Nella, to whom we pass on deepest sympathy and sincere condolences."

Meadows had a long and diverse career in acting, including playing the Dame.

Renowned Dame and actor Alam Montanaro wrote that Meadows was "a pillar of my beloved MADC. May he rest in peace."
