Gaudium, a collective exhibition featuring works by some of Malta's most esteemed artists alongside emerging talent, will be held at the historic church of Manikata. Marking the 50th anniversary of Manikata as a parish, this unique exhibition invites visitors to experience art in a setting rich with history and spiritual significance.

The exhibition title, Gaudium, meaning joy, encapsulates the essence of this initiative, which unfolds during the Easter season: a time of celebration, reflection and renewal. Once left in disrepair, the church was lovingly restored and reopened three years ago. It now serves as an adoration church and, for this occasion, a home for artistic expression.
"Art is perhaps the most sincere form of prayer for an artist," says the parish priest. "This exhibition is an opportunity for both artists and visitors to engage with the theme of joy in a deeply personal and spiritual way."

Gaudium brings together a distinguished group of Maltese artists, each presenting works that explore themes of beauty, hope and the human connection to the divine. A new artist joins the ensemble, adding a fresh perspective to this esteemed gathering.
The exhibiting artists are Peter Seychell, Fabio Borg, Debbie Bonello, Catherine Cavallo, Sarah Calleja, Jeni Caruana, Rev. Peter Paul Sultana and Nadia Borg.
Beyond its cultural and spiritual dimensions, Gaudium has a philanthropic purpose. A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition will contribute to an ongoing parish project. Last year, funds enabled the full air-conditioning of the main church, and this year, the goal is to install photovoltaic panels on the church roof, ensuring a sustainable future for the parish.
The public is warmly invited to visit Gaudium and experience the transformative power of art in this sacred space.
The exhibition is open from 27 March until 27 April. Opening hours are from 8am to 6pm.
