Malta suffered its second consecutive defeat losing in Warsaw against a superior Polish side by two goals to nil.
It was a deserved win for Poland though Malta gave a good account of themselves especially in the first forty five minutes.
Bonello had to be at his best saving a handful of goalscoring chances but both Chouaref and Teuma stood above the rest. Chouaref was rather unlucky in ending the match on a sour note when he was sent off in added time.
Poland went all out in search of an early goal and after three minutes a Kaminski shot from just outside the area ended wide.
Malta replied on six minutes when a Chouaref shot was turned onto a corner by the Polish goalkeeper. And in the 12th minute Chouaref after making his way on the left flank supplied a cross towards Joseph Mbong but the latter failed to connect.
A minute later Carragher lost possession allowing Bogusz to take hold of the ball only for his final shot being blocked by Bonello.
After a lengthy spell with play restricted to the midfield area, Poland drew first blood on 27 minutes. Frankowski's low cross was palmed by Bonello with the ball falling into Swiderski who couldn't miss from close range.
Malta's reaction was through a Chouaref shot which just missed the target just past the half hour. On the other end Bonello had to be on the alert to save on Swiderski.
Eight minutes from the break a Carragher fierce shot was blocked by the Polish goalkeeper. With the final minutes seeing Bonello be in the thick of action on two occasions, blocking on Bogusz and Bednarek.
Six minutes into the second half Poland doubled their lead with Swiderski finding the net for the second time.
Poland were now piling on the pressure and on 58 minutes a Moder shot was saved by Bonello. And just past the hour the Hamrun goalkeeper saved Swiderski low drive thus denying him a hat trick.
Twenty minutes from the end a free kick by Szymanski found Kaminksi with Bonello making a spectacular save.
In the 76th minute the Maltese custodian saved once again this time a Kaminski shot.
Ten minutes from the end it was Lewandowksi's turn to try his luck only for his shot to just miss the target. And on 87 minutes Chaouraf tested Skorupski with a long range conclusion which the Polish goalkeeper saved.
In added time Malta were reduced to ten man when Chouaref was sent off following a second bookable offence.
