Tributes have been flooding the web after news broke out that Chantalle Gauci was identified as the victim of Thursday afternoon's freak car accident in St. Julian's. Her loved ones are recollecting her cheerful, lively, and kind-hearted nature.

The country is mournful for her sudden loss, as observed through the tributes that have been coming through in her memory on social media.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola wrote about yesterday's "big shock," paying respect to Gauci and her family.

"A big shock tonight. Rest in peace Chantalle. My thoughts are with the entire family at this very difficult time," Metsola wrote.

Mark Schembri, a former PN candidate for Naxxar's local council, expressed his heartbreak towards the loss of his friend, whom he shared to have watched grow up.

"I remember you, a little girl, coming to my office to do your homework," he said.

Schembri recalled her "cheerful, funny character" as he said she was "above all, the mother of a little angel."

Gauci's cousin, Kurt Vella Fonde, thanked her for being joyful throughout her life, for being passionate towards their family, and for always doing her utmost to keep them together.

Other loved ones of hers were left speechless by her sudden demise, as they have been left reminiscing on the adventures and great years they spent with her throughout her young life.

Gauci, 38, tragically passed after her car suddenly rolled back and crushed her in Triq l-Arċisqof Romero - a steep side street beside Birkirkara Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The accident took place at approximately 5:30pm. She was identified as the victim of this accident later that same evening.

Gauci's six-year-old daughter was inside her car during this fatal accident; the little girl was fortunately not injured.
