Government announces dates and quotas for spring hunting season

The Ministry for Gozo and Planning has announced the dates and quotas for the spring hunting season.

The spring hunting season for quail will open on Monday, 14 April, and will remain open until Sunday, 4 May, 2025.

Hunting will be permitted from two hours before sunrise until noon on all days during the quail season.

The Ministry also announced that the hunting season for turtle doves will open on Monday, 21 April, and will remain open until Sunday, 4 May, 2025, two hours before sunrise until noon, on all days of the turtle dove season.

This after, with reference to the Special Spring Hunting License 2025, Legal Notices AL73/2025 and AL74/2025 which declare the spring hunting season for quail and turtle doves, were published.

All quail and turtle doves hunted during the open season for the respective species must be reported immediately. Anyone who goes out hunting but catches nothing is still required to report their hunting effort, as explained in the Special License.

The national quotas are 2,400 quail and 1,500 turtle doves. There are no individual quotas.
