Updated (3): 6 injured, one of them seriously, in accident involving sightseeing bus

An 80-year-old woman was critically injured in an accident involving a sightseeing double-decker bus and a car on the Coast Road in the limits of Naxxar at around 3.15pm, the police said.

The accident involved a Jaguar XF, which was being driven by an 81-year-old man from Zebbug, with an 80-year-old female passenger, also from Zebbug, and a Volvo B7 bus. The bus was being driven by 39-year-old Kenyan man resident in Zurrieq.

Both the driver and the passenger of the car were taken to hospital, as was the bus driver, and three bus passengers. The bus passengers taken to hospital were a female from the USA aged 79, another female from the USA and a third female with no further details having been given at this time.

The 80-year-old woman suffered serious injuries while the other five persons were slightly hurt.

Magistrate Antoine Mifsud Bonnici is leading an inquiry.
