It is time for artist Silvana Camilleri Tabone to once again present her art to art collectors and the general public. Through the eyes of the soul is the artist's fourth exhibition, which will take place at Gemelli Framing, Ta' Qali from 9 to 24 May. The curator of the exhibition will be none other than the esteemed artist Joseph Casapinta, who needs no introduction.
Silvana personally chose the title Through the eyes of the soul for this exhibition; the works created for it feel as though she has opened the doors to her heart and soul. They reflect vulnerability, stamina, gentleness, sensitivity and resilience - qualities that are deeply embedded in her character. She has managed to express these qualities on canvas and fine art paper.

Silvana is a nature lover and drawn to open spaces, so she chose to express herself through this favourite subject in every piece she created for the exhibition.
There are 33 works on display, mostly landscapes, not all of which are local - some are inspired by places beyond our shores, while others come from her imagination. Each piece contains various symbols and scenes that represent the artist's personal experiences, emotions, or what each artwork means to her.
This body of work was created during a period of major changes in her life - both in terms of location and emotional journey - and this is clearly reflected in her art. Some pieces speak to the turmoil she experienced, yet she always held onto the belief that each step forward was leading to something better.
Silvana even changed her home to give herself more space to create, as her previous small residence limited her passion for art.

In several of her artworks, she portrays grey clouds, yet there's always sunlight shining through - whether reflected on the artwork or casting golden-yellow hues on open fields. Some show icy landscapes, revealing moments in her life when she felt fear or insecurity in unfamiliar places. Still, Silvana believes that after every storm comes peace, and this idea shines through in her landscapes.
Some works depict places she lived in or which hold sentimental value from her past. Over the past 10 years, she has moved from place to place, transforming not only her lifestyle but also her personal and social identity. These transitions are captured in the diverse environments she painted - whether lived, imagined or desired. Each piece comes with a narrative, so visitors can understand the intention and thought behind each creation.
While her chosen theme is landscapes, the exhibition also highlights Silvana's versatility - both in the media she used and the different styles she explored. She shows her ability to work on both small and large formats, embracing the belief that versatility is a beautiful and unique trait. An artist, she believes, must not be confined, but must broaden their horizons to grow in all aspects.
Silvana also recently launched her official website, which is ready just in time for the exhibition. All the artworks from this show are featured on https://silvana.com.mt/ for a sneak peek before the exhibition opens.
In preparation for the exhibition, Silvana collaborated on a photoshoot held in her own art studio in Paola with the talented photographer Lorella Castillo. Silvana wanted to emphasise that her art is alive and personal - it reflects what she has lived through, felt, and what she hopes for in the future. Naturally, she included her beloved companions in the shoot - owls - with whom she feels a strong connection.
Silvana often works during the night, which makes her feel like part of these nocturnal creatures she so adores.
