This key initiative is part of a broader strategy to increase environmental sustainability of all operations at the Blue Lagoon, protecting its delicate Natura 2000 ecosystems as well as improving visitor experience.

"The Book. Protect. Enjoy" system was launched on 1 May and immediately delivered encouraging results. On the first day, a public holiday, over 4,800 visitors successfully presented their booking QR-codes and were issued access wrist bands at the area's three entry points. There was no impact on ferry operations, the MTA said.

In view of the court's decision, Team Blue Lagoon will temporarily put the "Book. Protect. Enjoy" system on hold until further notice. The ministries, public authorities and entities forming Team Blue Lagoon remain steadfast in their shared determination to ensure sustainable, safe and well-managed operations at the Blue Lagoon.
