Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra said the organisation is dedicated to producing high-quality events throughout the year, especially during the summer months. "These festivals entertain local audiences and further establish Malta as a cultural destination," he said, adding that Ritmu Roots Festival will open this year's summer calendar.

CEO Frans Agius highlighted the diversity of genres featured across the four festivals. "By presenting distinct artistic genres, we are reaching different audiences and strengthening our goal of making culture more accessible," he said.

The season begins with Ritmu Roots Festival, taking place between 21 and 24 May. Now in its third edition, the festival celebrates traditional music and community engagement. Artistic Director Andrew Alamango described it as a platform where communities gather around music and shared cultural practices. This year's line-up includes traditional activities such as Kummittiva, Għana, the game of bocce, as well as performances by international acts like Tarta Relena, Pliri Ntaxei and Vincent Moon.

Following Ritmu, the Malta International Arts Festival will run from 13 to 22 June. Spanning ten days, the multidisciplinary festival will include music, dance, theatre and visual art. Among the highlights are performances by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Underground Valletta, M.A.D. - Music and Dance, and Music Painted by Caravaggio. A new collaborative production titled Boċċi the Musical, presented with Teatru Malta, will also feature. Artistic Director Ruben Zahra noted that the festival will take place in historic locations, enhancing the experience by integrating Malta's cultural heritage into the performances.

The Malta Jazz Festival, from 7 to 12 July, will feature a blend of jazz traditions and experimental styles. The 35th edition of the festival will include acts such as Michael Mayo, Rebecca Martin, Peter Bernstein, and the LA-based duo Knower. "This year's programme reflects the festival's values of eclecticism, integrity and excellence," said Artistic Director Sandro Zerafa.

Finally, Dance Festival Malta will be held from 24 to 17 July. This festival aims to connect local and international dance communities through performances, masterclasses and workshops. Artistic Director Francesca Tranter said the event encourages dialogue and unity through movement. "Dance Festival Malta celebrates differences; sparks dialogue and unites us as a community" she said.

These festivals mark another season of artistic expression under the stewardship of Festivals Malta
