Malta is set to receive the al-Najjar family as soon as they are fit to travel, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced on Wednesday morning.
Last Sunday, Abela said Malta is ready to welcome and provide shelter to Doctor Alaa Najjar and her family.
Nine of the doctor's 10 children were among those killed in Israel's renewed military offensive last week.. Alaa Najjar, a pediatrician at Nasser Hospital, was on duty at the time and ran home to find her family's house on fire. Najjar's husband was severely wounded and their only surviving child, an 11-year-old son, was in critical condition after Friday's strike in the southern city of Khan Younis.
On Wednesday, PM Abela said that the Foreign Affairs Ministry in the past hours started proceedings to bring over the remaining members of the al-Najjar family.
Once the husband and father will be fit to travel, they will be coming over to Malta, Abela said.
