A man has died following a traffic accident in Zebbug on Wednesday evening, the police said.

The man, aged 32 from Luqa, was driving a Honda Civic that was involved in a collision with a Renault Captur being driven by a 57-year-old man of Dingli.

A woman aged 28, resident in Attard, was riding as a passenger in the Honda. 

The police said medical assistance was provided on site and the three injured persons were taken to hospital.

The 32-year-old died soon afterwards, the police said.  He was later identified as Karl Farrugia.

The accident happened in Mdina Road at 10pm. The other man and the woman suffered grievous injuries.

Magistrate Antoine Mifsud Bonnici is leading an inquiry.
