The 'Summer in Gozo' programme has been launched, including 130 cultural activities spread over 13 weeks from July to September, the Ministry for Gozo stated.
The ministry said that the programme, coordinated by the DIrectorate for Cultural Heritage, includes activities ranging from artistic, cultural, and thematic festivals, with the activities taking place throughout Gozo.
Minister Clint Camilleri said that the tourism sector in Gozo continues to enjoy substantial growth, particularly during the shoulder months, which he commented is substantiated by the latest figures published by the National Statistics Office. He said that in the first quarter of the year, Gozo experienced "remarkable growth" with over 50,000 bed nights for the first time in the first three months of the year. "We continued to work and managed to significantly increase tourism in the quieter months, while maintaining a stable summer," he remarked.
Camilleri continued that the ministry remains committed to strengthening Gozo's identity as a destination which combines entertainment with authenticity through high-quality events which respect the environment, support the economy, and strengthen community ties. He added that he is convinced of the strategy the ministry is adopting, "which is bearing fruit because we are looking towards more quality tourism, and therefore we are giving our visitors added value through this varied cultural programme".
