Malta's Minister for Finance, Clyde Caruana, shared demographic data in Parliament on Wednesday relating to the number of Maltese youths aged 16-30. This data illustrates that the number of Maltese young people has decreased by about 15,000 persons within a decade.
Caruana revealed that in December 2023, there were just under 65,000 young Maltese men and women aged between 16 and 30 years of age.
In contrast, the same figure recorded in December 2013, a decade prior, counted a total of just under 80,000 youths of the same age bracket.
Finance Minister Caruana noted that the figure for last December will be published next week, on Thursday, 10 July 2025.
This information was given after a parliamentary question was asked by PN MP Chris Said.
