The regeneration of Mosta's town centre and its surrounding areas is progressing steadily, with the Public Works Department intensifying enhancement works in recent weeks on a new pedestrian zone that will form part of the Mosta Square Master plan.

Improvement works are currently underway in Kurat Calleja Street and part of Torri Street, two roads that lead directly to Mosta's centre. These are being transformed into a more attractive and accessible pedestrian area, the government said Thursday.

During a site visit, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia, accompanied by Mosta Mayor Joseph Gatt, explained that in recent months, the Public Works Department has launched a series of enhancement projects across various zones and alleyways throughout Malta.

Parliamentary Secretary Farrugia stated, "In Żabbar, Kirkop, and now in Mosta, we have embarked on a series of enhancement works in several pedestrian zones and alleyways that connect residents and visitors alike to the heart of these localities." He added that the current works in Mosta, backed by an investment of nearly half a million euros, will be seamlessly integrated into the broader Masterplan for Mosta Square, a project undertaken by this Government.

Mosta Mayor Joseph Gatt expressed his gratitude to the Public Works Department, noting that residents will now benefit from a new pedestrian space that will significantly improve their quality of life. He also highlighted that this area, locally known as "Pjazza Torri" and often associated with pilgrimage activity, will further complement the larger Mosta Square project.
