A 29-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car in Għaxaq on Sunday afternoon, police said in a statement.

Police were informed of a traffic accident in Triq Għar Dalam, Għaxaq, at around 1pm.

Officers immediately went to the scene, where preliminary investigations found that a collision had taken place between a Mazda Demio driven by a 27-year-old man from San Ġwann and a Yamaha motorcycle ridden by a 29-year-old man who lives in Sliema.

A medical team was called to the scene and the motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was later certified as having suffered serious injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
