A woman has died after being caught between two vehicles in Valletta on Sunday evening, the police said.
The accident took place in Xatt il-Barriera Street, Valletta, at 10pm.
It involved a Subaru Impreza driven by a 23-year-old man of Paola and a Ford Fiesta, which was parked on the side of the road.
At the time of the impact, a 62-year-old woman from Hamrun was caught between the two vehicles, and she was certified dead on site.
The victim was identified as Mildred Azzopardi. Her sister posted on social media that "Dear Mildred, it's not fair; your life was cut short too soon last night by a reckless irresponsible driver. You will always be remembered by us, your siblings, as a guiding light and loved till we meet again. You will be sorely missed, R.I.P. with The Lord in whom you put your trust. I love you till death my dear young sister."
A 69-year-old man who was in the Ford also suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the Subaru was unhurt.
Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
