A motorcyclist was killed a hit-and-run on Sunday morning.
The police force said that that it was informed of a traffic accident at around 5:20am in Triq Salvu Psaila in Birkirkara. Preliminary investigations found that the crash involved a Maserati Levante, and a Kymco motorcycle that was being ridden by a 42-year-old man from Nepal.
After the crash, the Maserati also hit three parked cars. Police said that the driver and two passengers emerged from the car and escaped the scene of the accident. A medical team arrived on site but the motorcyclist was certified as dead on the scene. The victim was later identified as Khim Bahadur Pun from Nepal, who moved to Malta three years ago.
One of the passengers of the car, an 18-year-old woman from Mosta, was found some minutes later in the surrounding area and was arrested. She was arrested and taken to Mater Dei Hospital for care due to grievous injuries she had sustained.
In a statement later in the day, the police said that investigations in connection to the crash led to the arrest of the alleged driver of the car, a 17-year-old boy, and the other passenger, aged 18, both residents of Qormi, a few hours after the incident.
Police said that investigations are ongoing.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.

Doctors for Road Safety in a statement said that it is "devastated by the senseless death of a 42-year-old father of three."
"This is the 18th road fatality of 2025 - eighteen families torn apart by preventable tragedies. We cannot continue to accept these losses as inevitable when proven solutions exist. These deaths are not accidents - they are the predictable result of inadequate road safety measures."
"The time for half-measures has passed. D4RS urgently calls on Government to implement: 1. Immediate roadside, random alcohol and drug testing; 2. Ongoing 24/7, conspicuous police enforcement on our roads, including road-blocks with random stop checks to act as deterrent for those who want to break the law knowingly; 3. Implementation of the Vision Zero approach which is a comprehensive system looking at all aspects of road safety."
