Malta will be officially recognising the State of Palestine on Monday, Prime Minister Robert Abela said Sunday evening.
In a post on Facebook, Abela said that on the "eve of a historic day", a consignment of 250 tonnes of flour has arrived in Gaza from Malta.
Under the leadership of the World Central Kitchen, this will serve as humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
Abela, in new York for the United Nations General Assembly, said Malta is continuing to help Palestinian children who were injured in the war taking place in the Middle East.
Abela said Malta remains committee to help with declarations seeking a future solution and concrete action to address today's suffering.
The Prime Minister's declaration comes on the day that U.K., Australia and Canada formally recognized a Palestinian state on Sunday, prompting an angry response from Israel.
