The Nationalist Party has offered its condolences to the family of Dr Martin Fenech, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 62.
Lawyer Fenech was born and lived in Birkirkara, and contested two general elections on behalf of the Nationalist Party, those of 2003 and 2008, on the eighth and twelfth electoral districts, the party said.
"He graduated as a lawyer from the University in 1988 and specialised in European law after obtaining a second degree in Belgium. He worked as a lawyer in the fields of commercial law, civil law, and industrial relations. He also lectured in European law and in labour and industrial relations law at the University. This was in addition to being very active in various organisations both in Malta and abroad."
He was married to Jacqueline, and they had three children.
